Visit the Baldwin Gallery now through October 27, 2024 to view this show of photographic works by Lorraine DarConte. During the pandemic living in Santa Barbara, California, DarConte spent much of her time in natural spaces with her camera, encountering a whole lot of birds—-snowy egrets, gulls, sandpipers, pelicans, black-necked stilts and more, later re-imagining the images in studio to produce these captivating artworks.
The California Brown Pelican and the San Esteban Chuckwalla, two species featured in the Vanishing Circles collection, have seen improvement in their conservation status. This exhibition in the Ironwood Gallery showcases the beauty and resilience of these species through original works juried from members of Artists for Conservation and the Society of Animal Artists, alongside pieces from the original collection.
